How To Handle Indian Situation

From early reports, it appears these terrorists who struck in India could possibly be from Pakistan.  Authorities in Pakistan have disputed that assertion.  It begs the question of what a President Obama would do given the opportunity to handle this situation.

From his campaigning...he said he would go 'sit down' and engage them.  I guess since all the terrorists are dead from this particular situation, he might just want to sit down with their parents, friends, associates, etc.

Guess ol' Joe Biden was right...Obama will be tested and tested soon.

**BREAKING NEWS** (India Attacks Coordinated)

Watching breaking news on FOX concerning India

Terrorists are focusing on Americans and British citizens.  They used guns and grenades.  At least 20 are reported dead.  The terrorists have a Muslim-Muhammed-Radical Islam connection (no big surprise!).  Taj Hotel (a 5-star) is on fire in Bombay-now known as Mumbai

Apparent hostage situation...White House is monitoring.

Some threat today for NYC also.  Not enough to raise threat level.

What We Must Cut

President-elect Obama is promising to have his team go line-by-line in the budget and cut non-essential items. I have some suggestions for him.

1. Planned Parenthood
2. Nat'l Endowment For The Arts
3. Public Television

Planned Parenthood's government funding must come to an end today. The organization should have to go out and raise it's own funds. I refuse to do business with those who support PP.

National Endowment For The Arts is another organization I question why are we in the business of funding it? They should go after private funding.

Public Television is yet another. I support (and watch) public tv personally and hope others would as well. I do not believe it is the government's duty to use our tax dollars to support public tv.

We shouldn't be in the government-run/mandated healthcare business. This is sucking the life and resources out of our country. We will have to make some hard decisions in regards to budgeting.

There are many more areas in which we must cut and I'm ready to list them. Stay tuned. Earmarks are going to get HAMMERED, I promise!

Inventing A New Office

It is really bizarre to watch this whole "Office Of President-Elect" thing going on with Obama.   Just finished reading an article entitled Despite Bells & Whistles, 'Office of President-Elect' Holds No Power.

There is a Wikipedia site called 'President-Elect'

Did Obama make up the office?  Probably not, but he sure has taken it to another level.  Jim Meyer's article is quite funny and worth reading.

Team Obama has coined the site "Change.gov" and has made it appear to be the official, be all-end all site for all things "Transition Obama"....or shall I say the official site of "The Office Of President-Elect"

I will have advice for Team Obama on which government programs that need to be cut.  Look for that by Thanksgiving!

Take The Civics Test

A friend of mine, Michael (who runs Cookeville Weather Guy Blog), asked me to take the CIVICS TEST by the International Studies Institute.  He took it and scored an 81.8% getting 27 of 33 questions correct.  The November average is 77%.

I found that most Americans did poorly on it.  What is shocking is the average elected official did even worse (44% correct answers versus 49% for the average Joe).

Story about U.S. official flunking Civics Test

I will post my score when I've complete the test.

Wonder what the President-Elect and the Vice President-Elect would score on this thing?  I'm thinking since Obama said we have 57 states, he wouldn't do so hot.

Today is the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.  It is also the date of the death of famed author C.S. Lewis..both happened in 1963...source: Wikipedia

Private School for Obama's Kids

President-elect and Michelle Obama have chosen Sidwell Friends as the school of choice for their girls.  There were some who hoped the Obama family might actually choose a public school.  Maybe out in the heartland, but in downtown Washington, DC???...dream on!

AP Story on their school choice.

The question can now be asked if a President Obama will support school choice for the rest of us?  Will he bow to the pressure from the radical leadership at the NEA and disallow us regular Joes a shot at sending our kids to the school of our choice.  I am sure Obama doesn't have the strength to fight the liberal NEA

Back to Sidwell Friends...do the Obamas understand the Quaker influence on the school?  Do they even know it is affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends?
I actually read what the Quakers believe and it is quite good.  Did the President-elect consult with Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the 'black agenda'?  Obviously, I'm kidding about consulting with Rev. Wright.

Where There's Smoke....

You've heard the adage "Where There's Smoke, There Is Fire"...this simply means:
If unpleasant things are said about someone or something, there is probably a good reason for it
(Courtesy of: Cambridge Dictionary )

...the Obama birth certificate mess isn't going away.  Supreme Court Justice Souter has ordered Team Obama to produce documentation related to his birth certificate.

From America's Right, an explanation of the possible Supreme Court case.  Also, from Associated Content, a possible 'constitutional crisis.'  Joseph Farrar's piece at World Net Daily is interesting

Go to news.google.com and put in 'Obama Birth Certificate' and see how many stories pop up.  Then, look at how many are by the mainstream media types.  Would you be surprised at ZERO?

Lastly, ask yourself this question.....Why doesn't Team Obama just produce the birth certificate instead of spending untold $$$ fighting something they say 'has no merit'...instead, they are using technicalities to get these cases tossed from the court system.

Talk about a mess...

How Obama Got Elected

And we're surprised Obama won?

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

It is now clear that Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) will keep his chairmanship of the Senate's Homeland Security Committee.  Some Democrats had hard feelings over his support for Senator John McCain.

The Democrats are guilty of hypocrisy as well as a 'do as I say, not as I do' mentality.  The wish to deny unions a secret ballot, yet they voted in secrecy over Lieberman.   What gives?

Obama wants Lieberman because he needs the votes for his 'ambitious' (some called it socialist) programs.....errr, agenda.

Speaking of unions and thugs, Democrats are dying to give the automakers a huge piece of the bailout pie.  Why?  It is simple, they are joined at the hip with the unions.  If GM or Ford or Chrysler declare bankruptcy (the Chapter 11 reorganization type), they can renegotiate their contracts and hopefully, kick the UAW to the curb.  They driven the Big 3 into the toilet.

Keeping Your Friends Close and Enemies Closer

Seems like President-elect Obama is using the old adage of "keeping your friends close and enemies closer"....his 'team' is made up of a bunch of old Clinton people.   We'll get in to the list in a future post, but with naming Rahm Emanuel and John Podesta (who I sat next to at dinner...not on purpose..one night in Washington) to key spots on his team, he might as well name Senator Clinton and her husband to some spots on it as well!

How do you explain the fact that 40% of voters didn't bother to show up at the polls?

From the "Are You Kidding Me?" department....
Greg Craig is apparently going to be White House counsel.  If his name is familiar to you, here is why.  He defended then-President Clinton against impeachment proceedings.   Craig also defended John Hinckley, (yep, one and the same) who attempted an assasination on President Reagan.

The President-elect's interview drew a big number for CBS' 60 Minutes.  I suspect it was a curiousity factor moment for those of us who are somewhat suspicious of the 44th president.
Been almost 10 years since 60 Minutes had that big of an audience.

Glenn Beck & Fox News Channel

It was great to see Glenn Beck on the #1 Cable News Channel. His new show arrives early next year and I'm thrilled to see him on Fox.  Stay tuned for more information and if you have a second, check out Glenn's website.

Tonight, our staffers added Karl Rove's website to The Conservative Thinkers list.  Our list is continuing to be one of the best in the land of conservatism.

We were also informed by a guy named Michael at "The Weather Guy " that he has added The Conservative Thinker to his list of "Blogs I Read"....thanks Michael.

Lastly, we hear first lady Laura Bush will be releasing a 'tell-all' book about living the last 8 years in the White House.  I'll bet it is much nicer to her husband than some of the clowns who've recently released books (like a former Press Sec'y)..

News Busters

The Taste Of Shoe Leather

Did any of you catch the 'press conference' from the President-elect today?  One of the more interesting things, in my mind, was how he 'hemmed and hawed' while answering reporter's questions.   I found a 'non-answer' to a question about his raising taxes hilarious.  Obama went into campaign mode once again talking about '95% of Americans will see a tax cut'....I'll believe it when I see it.

Another crazy thing was his crack about Nancy Reagan.  Obama has since apologized...story referenced here.  I guess he's caught the 'foot in mouth' disease from VP-elect Biden.

I read a very interesting explanation about the election from Dutch Sheets...see it here...Sheets is spot on with his analysis.

WWOD

What Will Obama Do?

He has several issues to deal with right off the bat.

WALL STREET
The Stock Market has NO CONFIDENCE in our new president-elect. Stocks fell more in the last two days since he was elected than in the history of the market. I believe it to be a reaction to his regressive tax policy.

MEDIA LOVE FEST
BHO is 'suffering' from something I call the media's love fest. How long will this honeymoon last? Hopefully for the rest of us, the answer will be 'not long'

RUSSIA
They are 'threatening' to put missiles in/near Poland. Not good.

ISRAEL
They are very concerned with Obama's thoughts of talking to Iran. Says Israeli Foreign Minister Livni, "shifting from sanctions to dialogue is a sign of weakness"....oh my

AFGHANISTAN
President Karzi asked for an air strikes near civilians to stop.

We all must hope AND pray that President-Elect Obama is a quick study. For him to be in the Oval Office with scant experience sends chills through my bones. I hope he learns QUICK!

Media Bias!

Some say media bias doesn't exist. I submit to those of you who believe that to watch this 1 minute video exchange on Morning Joe between the host and Chris Matthews.

How To Treat Leaders

I believe the Republicans will do a much better job of showing respect to the office of the POTUS than did the sorry Democrats.  They so maligned George W. Bush and it was disgraceful.  I hold many of the Dem leadership accountable for this.  Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton (& her husband), alonge with many others.

It is time to stay focused and quit whining about losing.  It is time to have some REAL conservatives step up and lead.  With the government turned sharply to the left, the libs will have to get some things done.  I still believe this is a center-right country.

President-elect Obama had better not forget about the right because he inherits a country that is VERY DIVIDED.    This runs contrary to what the mainstream media is saying.

The Unknown

We've never elected a president who is such an unknown.
~Charles Krauthammer

He just made this comment a couple of minutes ago. It is very telling. President-Elect Obama will have to learn to control the idealogues in his party. Will he have the ***** to do it? Only time will tell.

Black or Multi-Racial

Is Barack Obama black?....or the more politically correct term of 'African-American'..which is, in and of itself, very silly. I guess I'm a German-American and my wife is a Scot/Irish-American or my friend Steve is a Polish-American.

Barack Obama's dad was a Kenyan...an African. His mom was white. He was, supposedly, born in Hawaii but then lived in Indonesia with yet another husband of his mother who was a Muslim and sent young Barry to a Muslim school as a youngster.

Then, due to his mother's lack of ability to parent, he was raised by his WHITE grandparents. *Note, his grandmother has just passed & our deepest regrets to his family.*

So, back to the question...is he black or multi-racial. I'll let you decide.

Since he is the President-elect...can we finally stop with the whole racism garbage?

What Will Obama Do?

Will Obama cut taxes??
...has he ever voted for a tax cut..NO

Will he institute government-mandated healthcare insurance coverage?
...probably..driving many doctors into retirement & other professions.

Will he allow a Pelosi & Reid congress free reign?
...don't know...we don't yet know if Obama is an empty suit or not.

What about the UN-Fairness Doctrine?
...we'll see...there are some crazy liberals who want to reinstitute it.

Hey Barack, how about cutting the giveaways to people who don't pay ANY taxes by killing the 'un' Earned Income Tax Credit. It is WELFARE...and doesn't help those people pick themselves up. How about putting in a plan where we cut it by 25% a year over the next four years.

A Dark Night

Sitting on the couch at 9:20 p.m., it appears that Barack Hussein Obama will win enough electoral votes to be the president-elect. Regardless of what the mainstream media will tell us over the next few days, the country is DIVIDED.

The MSM will want you to believe the country wanted Obama. While he won more votes and more importantly, more electoral votes, Obama has a long way to go to win the hearts & minds of nearly 50% of the voters.

Obama will need to govern from the center and NOT from the left. He will need to stand up to a liberal-controlled congress. Whether or not he is able to stand up to them remains to be seen. What also remains to be seen is how Obama will govern.

At this point, we have no reports of election night violence. I hope this holds true although, I'm not confident. Do any of you remember any of the World Series winners where idiots burned buildings, overturned cars, and committed general mayhem?

It'll be interesting if the Obama people will help or hurt in the transition of power. Typically, when power is given to the non-incumbent party, the incumbent party helps with the transition and the winner generally listens. The Clinton administration was very unhelpful in the transition to George W. Bush. I think GWB's folks will help this transition be very, very smooth. Why? Because he has class.
